Your Child's First Visit

Welcome to your child’s “Dental Home”! Studies show that children with an established dental home are less likely to suffer tooth decay, have long-lasting and positive dental health. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends that children receive their first dental visit at least six months after the appearance of the first tooth or by age one.

We encourage you to partner with us in making your first visit a comfortable and positive one. We encourage you to talk to your child beforehand, creating excitement and anticipation for a great experience. You’ll want to answer any questions your child may have and we encourage you to show your child age-appropriate children’s books on “going to the dentist”.

You should avoid using words that may cause fear, such as “drill”, “shot”, or “pain”. Often, a child’s fear of the dentist is a projection of their parent’s own fears. Our goal is to create an environment that avoids those negative feelings and allows your child to associate a warm and inviting experience with visiting the dentist.

We Can’t Wait To Show You How Much We Care!

What to Expect

For your child’s first visit to Glowing Smiles Pediatric Dentistry, we like to do a comprehensive examination. This includes looking at your child’s teeth along with the supporting structures of the gums. We will also address your child’s oral hygiene, as well as clean your child’s teeth. We will look at your child’s bite and will only take x-rays if necessary. This is the optimal time to ask questions about your child’s mouth and teeth.

At Glowing Smiles Pediatric Dentistry we make an attempt to accommodate your time and scheduling needs. To ensure the best dental care, we request that you make every effort possible to be on time for your child’s dental appointment. We tend to run on time when our patients run on time and in order to be respectful to other parents and patients, we please ask that you arrive at your appointment with completed paperwork or with ample time to complete any required paperwork.

If you need to cancel your appointment for any reason, we ask that you provide at least 24-hour notice. We realize that emergencies may happen, but please make every effort to cancel your appointment in advance.

Payments for dental services are due at the time services are rendered. At Glowing Smiles Pediatric Dentistry the treatment we provide is based on individual needs for each patient. If we determine that additional services are needed following an examination, we will inform you of these services and the fee associated before performing any treatment. For your convenience, we do accept personal checks, debit cards,  Care Credit and most major credit cards.
